MAAFM invites WWII vets to welcome rare warbirds
August 31, 2016 - September 2, 2016
MILLVILLE — The Millville Army Air Field Museum (MAAFM) is inviting all area World War II veterans — and especially those who served as pilots, flight crew, or ground crew — to visit the museum on Sept. 1 at 10:30 a.m. to help welcome the Collings Foundation’s “Wings of Freedom Tour” to the Millville Airport. The “Wings of Freedom” is squadron of rare World War II aircraft that will be making a visit to the airport from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2. The event continues a year-long celebration of the 75th anniversary of the designation of the Millville Army Air Field as “America’s First Defense Airport” at the beginning of World War II.
On Sept. 1, the MAAFM will be holding a special ceremony where air and ground crew members will be able to share their experiences and enjoy a brunch and tour of the vintage aircraft. All WWII veterans will be honored. Those interested in attending the Sept. 1 event should contact the Millville Army Air Field Museum at 856-327-2347.
